The frail Allen was blind, deaf, unable to walk and suffered a near fatal heart attack in September only to be revived and returned to death row by his thoughtful saviours.
The other night he received three injections, then an extra dose of potassium chloride, the lethal chemical that eventually stopped his heart.
Allen was the second oldest inmate executed in the USA since capital punishment resumed nearly 30 years ago in that giddy, myopic nation.
A 77-year-old was executed in Mississippi just last month.
Well, I guess it beats getting decapitated by a sword... or blown to smithereens by a surgical strike.
