Today the Rudd/Brumby team approved 30 ghetto style apartments next door to a pokies venue despite protest from residents and the local council objecting because the design breaks all the rules pertaining cramming people into the smallest sized units in the least amount of space and physically connected to a bar and pokies venue. The plan sees 30 double story units placed on a piece of land the size of 4 house blocks in Melbourne's West. At least these occupants will only have to go downstairs to get a drink and put their dole cheque into the poker machines. Planning Minister Madden over ruled the council to fast track the ghetto which will be occupied by troubled single mothers and female ex-prisoners. The big question is will the government insist that the licenced gambling venue also install pinball machines for the kids while their rehabilitating mother's spend the pension on the pokie slots?
