Politicians and media whores are scratching their
heads over the exploding Australian rents that
are driving retail prices through the roof.
It is being driven by "demand" they say.
After long discussions on the subject they have
concluded that a green "demand" ray was launched
from Mars by evil creatures with tentacles.
Government and media experts agree that there is
no other possible explanation for the relentless
rise in commercial and residential rents.
We cannot stop the green ray, they said, but we
can cut services and poor people's incomes.
They suggested that boosting politician's pay and
benefits would also help to control inflation.

It is always comforting to see how community leaders have their fingers on the pulse in their usual expert way. I believe we can all sleep easy - in the manner of those who were blissfully unaware of the Wall Street crash that would greet them in the morning. |
