I suppose this is a good time to enlarge
upon the topic of fear, guns, and safety.
Most people live lives of pathetic fear.
All they want most is for the nice policeman
to promise them safety, and they will grant
him total power over their lives for this.
Any safety gained this way is a total illusion,
however, and your powerful protector will rapidly
become your powerful persecutor.
Still, the craving for safety remains. What to do?
Here is where my Recreational Psychiatry(TM)
technology comes to the rescue.
With some carefully implanted electrodes, we can
fondle away your fears electronically.
So, when a crazed gunman turns up at your
classroom, lecture, or workplace waving his
gun, you will feel perfectly safe.
Even as the bullets thud into your twitching
flesh you will be feeling calm and safe.
It is optional to feel smug that you are also
disarmed, gun-free, and defenceless.
Now, what could be better than that?

Who exactly is "the World", Lemmyng? Why should I be one bit concerned what "The World" thinks about Americans? Do you think "The World" is in love with White Australians? Are your people more loved than mine? Don't deceive yourself, Lemmyng. You are every bit as hated as we Americans are, if you are of white European decent. People love to hate and loath those that are successful, and cheer on those that are down-and-out or unsuccessful. I don't rightly know why, just human nature I guess. For example, people will spend decades trying to figure out why the crazy chink randomly murdered 36 people. They will feel sorry for him (I've already heard two students express this). They will wonder what bad things people did to him to make him that way. They will pitty him because he was bullied or taunted. They will pray for him. However, hardly anyone, other than the victims' familes, will remember the innocent that were murderd. The media could care less about what made them tick, what kind of people they were, what bad or naughty things other people did to them. So, Lemmyng, I feel quite honored that the world does not pitty me, does not feel sorry for me, and even loaths me some. That translates into envy and jelousy, which confirms that I, and America are on the right path. The path of industriousness, the path of success, competitiveness and vigilence. Perhaps you and Australians loath me and Americans, partly because we can have guns, can have military weapons, and you can't. The fact that any American owns firearms should be completely irrelevant to Australians or Europeans. We cannot affect those people with our guns, even if we so desired. But, it serves as a reminder to the people of Australia and the people of England that they secceeded their rights and freedom to their governments in a quest for "safety", and false relief from fear of harm. It also serves as a thorn in the side of European and Australian governemnts that the people could one day demand their guns back; could demand their rights and freedoms back from their governments. That scares them. People like me scare them. Free people like Americans scare them. That means that we Americans have not yet been stripped of all of our freedoms, and that "fear" and loathing, is really respect. |
