Indonesian Military Linked to Jakarta Terror Attack

Indonesia's armed forces may have a bloody hand in the massive blast at Jakarta's exclusive Marriott Hotel in earlier this week.

This news will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the murderous antics of the Indonesian military in East Timor and, more recently, Aceh and Irian Jaya.
According to an Indonesian Government adviser, sheeting blame home to Muslim extremists for the terror attack may be covering up a campaign to oust the President, Megawati Sukarnoputri.

Such suspicians were also raised during investigations into the Bali bombings.

As for Amrozi, the so-called "smiling assassin", does anyone really believe that this dim, ignorant little man could have planned and carried out the bombings wihout significant, sophisticated assistance?

Given the history of the military's involvment in Indonesia's politics and power struggles, there may well be a lot more to the Marriot Hotel bombing than meets the eye.

And after all, the Indonesian generals would not be alone is using the "war on terror" for their own cynical, selfish purposes.

Correct, President Bush and Prime Minister Howard?
