On Greece. A view from the Civilised world.

They say that all that lies between civilised Man and anarchy is a thin blue line. Well it looks like in that failed outpost of Europe, Greece, the blue line is evaporating and the natives are out to play!

Tahrir Square terror about to be replayed in Greece?

During my travels around the globe I have seen the best and worst of the developing world. But never did I think that in a supposed first world nation we would see the natives come out to play like Greece is experiencing now. Though it must be said that I have always regarded the Greeks as the weak link of Europe. I mean have a look at Kazantzakis’ Zorba the Greek if you want to know about the wanton ways of the Greeks that have finally led them bust.

Sunset over Athens…and Greek civilization?

So what to do? Can sun, sea, and fun save them? Well, as anyone who has travelled there knows, Greece is hardly a paradise. In fact a more ramshackle place would be hard to find on the European side of the Mediterranean. No, I don't think there is any hope for this hopeless place.

The Acropolis – most are disappointed by the mess around it when they visit.

After speaking to my friends in Skopje, Tirana, and Sofia, the answer seems to be that we should just build a big wall and let the Greeks sort it out amongst themselves.

Coming to the Greek border with Europe soon.

And don’t let them in until they can learn to handle a budget and behave like decent Europeans.
