The farmers won't be forbidden to save and replant seeds. They will be unable to save and replant Monsanto and other GM seeds because the crops that grow from these seeds don't produce new seed. You have to go and buy more seed to grow another crop. There are no patents on nature's seeds so if they have their own they can keep using them. The Monsanto seeds will probably perform better and give farmers a better, larger, more resilient crop (hopefully).... frankly I'm glad they won't produce seed as it's also a way of safeguarding against cross-pollination... which is already happening here in Australia by the way from some of the early test GM crops.... when controls weren't so stringent.
