"This organisation has been reformed and America will participate fully in its mission to advance human rights and tolerance and learning."

WHILE everyone is wondering whether the US will go to war alone (i.e., with us) or consult, the war has already started. We wanted to know whether Bush would talk or fight; he's doing both. The softening-up process has begun.

The Gulf War never finished; it just got de-escalated. Now it has been re-escalated. Why would Saddam make any concessions whatever in order to avoid war when he is already at war with the US?

Iraq wants a guarantee that once the weapons inspections have finished, the sanctions will be lifted, the bombing stopped and the no-fly zone removed. The US has never been prepared to give that guarantee.

If you want someone to surrender, you have to let them think that you'll stop hitting them when they do.

Tell it to that certifiable air-head Bush and his venal gang of 'advisors"! I say head for the goddamn hills and keep your head down!

Given that the "bloody obvious" is being totally ignored by the leaders of the most powerful (and self-obsessed) nation on earth, not to mention our own repugnant federal government - and given that US belligerance may soon open a Pandora's Box of unparalleled global mayhem - these things MUST be said ad infinitum! When did September 11, with Saudi nationals making up most of the plane hijackers, become war with Iraq, which does not appear to have been connected with September 11? What is the connection between September 11 and Iraq?

US and Brit warplanes have just bombed an Iraqi air defence "command and control facility" west of Baghdad.

The US Central Command said in a statement that the airstrike was in response to "recent Iraqi hostile acts" against coalition aircraft patrolling a no-fly zone over southern Iraq.

I guess "hostile acts" means shooting at US and Brit jets that bomb Iraqies!
